TOPIC: Exploring Senior Mental Health Issues and Resources starts with a review of life events that typically cause depression and common cognitive disorders in the elderly. Presenters will help attendees identify when symptoms of depression or cognitive disorders could trigger requests for help from a mental health professional. A review of current community resources for mental health care rounds out this presentation.

SPEAKERS:

Diane Roberts BSN, PMHRN practices as a psychiatric nurse since 1968. For the past 15 years her practice has focused on geriatric population in the home health field. Currently she is the clinical supervisor for the Providence Home Health Mental health Teams.

Maria Shindler has been a Nurse since 1991. She practiced in variety of levels of care in roles of provider and consumer. Currently, she works in the Providence Mental Health - Senior Psychiatry Unit as a day shift charge nurse. Maria previously worked for Providence Mental Health, taught nursing at PCC and was a staff nurse at Tuality Center for Geriatric Psychiatry.
