Topic: Proactively Engaging "Difficult" Families Caring for people living with dementia is difficult enough, but add challenging family members on top and you’ve got a recipe for burnout! Join us to learn why families can be hard to work with, how to diffuse the situation before it blows, how to get the situation to neutral, and then how to work together effectively moving forward.Learning Objectives: Identify 3 reasons families present as difficult; identify 3 ways to bring down tension; Identify 3 ways to work together effectively moving forward; Identify 3 reasons proactive engagement is a better strategy than hoping and praying the situation doesn't get worse

Speaker: Christy Turner of Dementia Sherpa is the go-to local expert for families living with a dementia diagnosis and the challenges that come with it. Christy is a speaker, founder of (CTC Dementia Care Management), and a community education instructor at Chemeketa Community College in Salem, OR. She is an expert in creatively managing behaviors without drugs, and the go-to expert when you want to stop struggling and move on to solutions that actually work.
