Topic: Elder Abuse
Older adults deserve a safe and secure retirement. Unfortunately, some elders fall victim to abuse, fraud or other crimes. Washington County Elder Safe helps victims aged 65 and older after a crime is reported to police and continues to help them through the criminal justice system.
Speaker: Corrine Haning,
Corrine is the Elder Safe Coordinator with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, a program that provides crime victim services to older adults countywide. She has eleven years of working with vulnerable adults in various capacities, including 5 ½ years serving homebound older adults with energy assistance. In her three years at the Sheriff’s Office, she has focused on risk factors for older adults as crime victims, such as loneliness and isolation, as well as dementia, while working to bridge connections between law enforcement and partner agencies. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and is a Certified First Responder Dementia Trainer.
