A Brief History of SPIN

SPIN's Mission:
Senior Provider Information Network (SPIN) connects senior healthcare professionals with top-notch education and networking opportunities.
1980s:
SPIN began in the early 80s with a group of service coordinators, aiming to educate and support those helping seniors access services.
1990s:
With the rise of assisted living and retirement communities, SPIN became the go-to spot for learning about new ways to serve seniors. Monthly meetings were held at different locations across Portland, giving members a chance to tour facilities firsthand.
Early 2000s:
SPIN grew with a steering committee and expanded its reach to both east and west Portland. The switch from paper mailings to an online presence made communications quicker and more efficient.
Mid 2000s:
In 2013, SPIN kicked off a holiday giving project for residents at Providence Elder Place. Over the years, we've partnered with senior centers to deliver everything from socks to gift cards, and in 2019, moved the event to summer to avoid donation overload.
Late 2020s:
In 2025 SPIN continues to offer top-tier educational content and networking, remaining a must-attend for senior healthcare professionals. Operating without funding, SPIN thrives thanks to the support of volunteers and generous speakers.
