Brianne Salvati, OTR/L, OTD, MOT, ECHM, CDP is an assistant professor at Western Oregon University with over 16 years of experience working with older adults across the healthcare continuum. Dr. Salvati has presented locally and nationally on several topics including her original research on the efficacy of the HOPE lifestyle program, an individualized, novel telehealth program for her community-dwelling older adults.

"Aging in Place Through an Occupational Justice Lens"
Successful aging in place is multifaceted and extends beyond maintaining safety and performance in basic activities of daily living. Social determinants of health and environmental and contextual factors may present as barriers in aging in place and more importantly, restrict access to meaningful occupations. An Occupational Justice framework, similar to social inclusion, offers an expanded lens for understanding these challenges by emphasizing individuals' rights to meaning, participation, choice, and Occupational balance. This session offers an Occupational Justice Lens for stakeholders working with seniors to recognize meaningful participation as part of aging in place.
