Sponsor: Home Instead Senior Care: Home Instead is a national franchise. In the greater Portland area there are five offices and one in Vancouver, each office is individually owned and operated. The Hillsboro office is owned by Todd & Kristi Barth. The territory for this Home Instead office is Columbia County, Western Washington County and Yamhill County. There are a few differentials that make the Hillsboro office stand out. One, all of their care consultants on the Care Team have their degrees as Masters of Social Workers allowing for a holistic approach to caring for seniors and their families. Two, they provide consistent client introductions with their caregivers, this a fords a better fit and communication system from the start. Three, they currently have great capacity of available caregivers in all three of our territories allowing a quick turn around in care.
Annual Holiday Giving: In 2013, the SPIN board was presented with an excess of blankets and other items collected for seniors. The board decided in light of this unexpected windfall, we would put the education portion of our December meeting on hiatus and instead select seniors with limited resources as recipients. This decision was met with enthusiasm from SPIN members and a request to establish a tradition. The selection process matches the SPIN goal to serve both sides of the Willamette River. Senior Centers with limited support from governmental agencies are considered. For 2016 we return to the west side Senior Centers of Hillsboro, Forest Grove and North Plains as recipients.
