Title: "Music for Wellness: Differentiating Between Therapy, Education, and Entertainment"
This presentation will explore the various roles of music in improving quality of life for older adults in care settings by distinguishing three key approaches: music therapy, music education, and music entertainment. Music therapy is examined as a clinical tool to address what are often called the dimensions of wellness, supported by evidence-based techniques. Music education is highlighted as a means to engage seniors in skill-building and lifelong learning, fostering mental stimulation and social connection. Music entertainment is presented as a source of joy, relaxation, and cultural enrichment, uplifting spirits in everyday life. We’ll dive into real-world examples as well as participate in a couple of experientals.
